Design and specs.

A removable cooking pot, a crisping basket with a detachable base, and a rack with an optional second layer are included with the Ninja Foodi Deluxe XL. Pressure cook, air fry/crisp, sear/sauté, bake, broil, steam, slow cook, dehydrate, and yoghurt are the nine operations you can choose from using the dial in the centre of the appliance.

The Ninja Foodi Deluxe XL is similar to the massively popular original Foodi, only it stores more ingredients: five quarts of food while air frying and eight quarts when pressure cooking, compared to four quarts when air frying and five quarts for pressure cooking in its predecessor.

The air fryer measures 16 inches wide by 15 inches deep by 15 inches high, and the gadget is 20 inches tall with the pressure cooker top on, which is slightly too high to fit under ordinary cabinets.

The Deluxe XL's top temperature setting for baking, air frying, and other related tasks is 400 degrees Fahrenheit. When dehydrating food, the lowest temperature is just 80 degrees, and it maintains that temperature for up to 12 hours.

Setup process.

All I had to do to set up the Deluxe XL was unpack everything and connect it in. Before my first use, I hand-washed the pot and crisping basket and read the quick-start instructions, but the device was mostly ready to use right out of the box. I had the Deluxe XL toasting bread in five minutes.

The appliance, as previously stated, has two lids. A hinge connects the "air crisping" cover, which you utilise during air frying. Simply leave the air crisping lid open while pressure cooking and lock the pressure-cooking lid in place.

Ninja Foodi Deluxe XL .

The Ninja Foodi Deluxe XL performs admirably when it comes to air frying and pressure cooking, but how well does it perform when you only want to use one of these features? I used French fries to put the air fryer to the test. Hand-cut and spiral sweet potato and Yukon gold fries were created from scratch. The fries took between 30 and 35 minutes to acquire the desired crispiness, which isn't awful.

Except for the main unit and lid, which contain all of the electronic components, all of the elements are dishwasher safe. These can be cleaned with a damp cloth. I washed the pot and basket by hand for the most part, but on days when I wasn't in the mood for a thorough cleaning, these items made it through the wash cycle undamaged.

 Cons to think about.

Slow cooking is a hit-or-miss proposition. On the low setting, the heat is substantially lower than in a regular slow cooker. I destroyed one meal because I didn't realise the slow cooker wasn't getting hot enough until after it had been cooking for several hours. I tried it again a few weeks later, and the appliance continued to underheat on both low and high settings. Surprisingly, the Foodi did just well slow cooking pulled pork when I used it again several months later for our electric pressure cooker testing. I'm not sure what accounts for the vast disparities in cooking, but if you do a lot of slow cooking, the Ninja Foodi isn't for you.

The air fryer doesn't heat up as evenly as I'd like it to. By placing bread in the basket and examining the colouring of the toast, I can determine how uniformly air fryers heat. The toast from the Ninja Foodi Deluxe XL had a darker centre than the periphery. This is an excellent reason to shake the contents of the basket at least once while it's cooking.
